AUSTRALIA has become the most expensive country to work in this year, with a total of $18,547 in job losses from February to April, according to a new report.

The job market is the most diverse in the world, with people from the Americas and Asia and the Pacific Islands more likely to have worked in Australia, than in other developed nations.
“Australians have the highest level of skilled migration from the OECD and other developed countries,” the report said.
“In 2016, Australia’s skilled migration to other OECD countries averaged 2.4% of its total labour force.”
The biggest gains came in the IT and financial sectors.
The report found that the largest number of people were working in the tourism and hospitality sector, which accounts for about half of the jobs lost.
More people are working overseas than working in other OECD nations.
Australia has lost more jobs to overseas workers than any other OECD country, and is the third-most expensive country for people to work.
It has more than twice as many people in work-related travel and hospitality jobs as people in jobs in agriculture and fisheries.
“Employment and economic migration from overseas is a critical issue for the country, particularly as we seek to attract the global workforce,” the agency said in a statement.
“Australia has an economic surplus and the economy is recovering, but we are also struggling to attract and retain skilled labour.”
While we have an opportunity to attract talent to Australia, we must continue to balance the needs of our workforce with the needs and interests of our overseas workforce.
“The agency also found that Australia has been one of the most successful places to start a business overseas.”
The number of Australian businesses that have launched in other countries and started overseas has increased from just under 200,000 in 2015 to over 300,000 last year,” the statement said.
In the six months to April 2017, there were more people in Australia working in tourism and accommodation services than in agriculture or fisheries.
