Which US states pay the highest per-capita income tax?

Reuters -1.0% per year in 2018, the lowest rate in decades, according to the latest IRS data.

In addition to California, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey and Vermont, the top three states for state and local taxes are California, Florida and Texas.

According to the Tax Policy Center, the 10 states that top the list of the highest effective tax rates are the following:North Dakota, Alaska, Ohio, Montana, Rhode Island, Vermont, Delaware and Hawaii.

It’s worth noting that the top tax rates in Alaska, North Dakota and Ohio have not changed since the Tax Foundation first released the data.
